Spotted Salamander

American Bullfrogr
Rana catesbeina

Size: 3.5-8" (9-20.3 cm)

Habitat: lakes, ponds, rivers, and marshes

Journal Entry: April 15
by Klint

So you know how bears hibernate? Bullfrogs do too! Only they hole up in the mud below the ponds. When it finally gets warm again, the bullfrogs crawl out of the mud and warm themselves in the spring sunshine. They cannot move very fast until they warm up, though. I found out that bullfrog tadpoles can take up to two years to turn into adult frogs.
