Chinese Gliding Tree Frog

Chinese Gliding Tree Frog
Polypedates dennysi

Tree Frogs are famous for their extraordinary leaps. Gliding Tree Frogs can jump farther than any other tree frog, an ability which helps them to escape predators. They have special webs between their toes which allow them to glide long distances. When the frogs spread out their toes, each foot acts like a tiny blue and black spotted kite. In this manner, Gliding Tree Frogs can glide from tree to tree, or from a high perch to the ground. Several small suction cups on the sole each foot ensure solid landings for the little leapers.
