Poison Arrow Frog
Dendrobates pumilio
|
The Poison Arrow Frog is very small and poisonous. Native hunters dip the points of their blowgun darts in the strong poison produced by this frog. No bigger than a man's thumbnail, the poison-arrow frog is found in South American rainforests. These tiny frogs lay their eggs on leaves. When the tadpole hatches, it is carried on a parent's back to a bromeliad where it grows to be a frog.
