Red-Eyed Tree Frog

Red-Eyed Tree Frog
Agalychnis calidrays

The inch-long Red-Eyed Tree Frog makes his home in the disappearing tropical rainforests of eastern Central America. His name comes from his bulging red eyes that help him see better in dim light. His brightly colored skin serves as a warning to predators that he might be poisonous. While many tree frogs cling to branches and leaves with suction-tipped toes, the Red-Eyed Tree Frog can also grip twigs as monkeys do.
