Ocelot
Leopardus pardalis
|
The ocelot lives mostly in the understory of the South American rainforests. He is an expert climber, feeding on small birds, lizards, and mice. The pattern on his fur provides perfect camouflage I the dappled light of the understory. The ocelot's fur also makes beautiful coats for humans. Sadly, the ocelot is now very rare because he has been hunted too much for his lovely coat.
