1995: Research for A Fly in the Sky

Before writing and illustrating A Fly in the Sky I made a journal where I wrote down facts about as many different birds and butterflies as I could. Then I drew a picture of each animal next to the information I wrote down. Most of the species did not make it into the final book, because I could only choose one animal for each letter of the alphabet. This page shows the Purple Gallinule, which appears on the "G" page in A Fly in the Sky. -K
